Thanks to Virantha Mendis for pointing out the right procedure
of doing this as outlined in Sun Doc 14189.

Subject: Problem with uninstalling vxvm

I'm having problem uninstalling vxvm v3.1.1 on a server before upgrading
it to Solaris 8. Here is what I've done:

1. Remove mirrors for the 2 volumes (rootvol & swapvol).
There're no other volumes on the rootdisk.
2. Run vxunroot

As soon as I run vxunroot, I get the following error message:

The vxunroot operation cannot proceed.
Disk c0t0d0 does not have a suitable SWAP partition to use.
Perhaps the SWAPVOL plex is not the original one created by
vxrootmir or not the original one created when the rootdisk
was encapsulated; or perhaps the SWAP partition no longer
  exists on this disk.

Indeed swapvol plex on rootdisk was removed some time ago
and recreated by mirroring from rootmirror.

How do I get over this hurdle? Any suggestions will be gratefully
received.
