remote dump. and ftping directly into the dlt drive of a remote machice

From: Sree <sreep_at_qnetstaff.com>

Dear Sunmanagers,
Can anyone please provide a solution for this problem listed below

Q.1. I had ftped data to a remote machine. now loging on locally to the
remote machine how to access the data from the tape (Tape used is dlt)
Q.2. Inspite of mentioning the ip of the source in the remote machines
hosts.equiv and .rhosts file, on issuing a remote ufsdump it give the
following error
        [sree@mds] ufsdump 0cvf saturn.quality.com:/u01/oracle/backup
data.Nov-09-2001.tar.Z
          DUMP: saturn.quality.com: Connection refused
DUMP: Cannot connect to tape host `saturn.qualitynet.net'
DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.
Q.3. dd if=/dev/rmt/0n (dds) of= the location of the file and the filename
worked with dds tape only with a file size of 700k
when the same principle was used for dlt (1n) with a file size of
3Gb it gives an output 0+0 output 0+0 input
