the answer is ZERO (or, very close to zero).

The folks listed below correctly pointed out a duplex mismatch between the switch and the sun. Someday, I will not make this mistake, or its going to bite me (in an unmentionable place) once every 4 years. 

The moral of the story is: dont let autonegotiation bite you in your unmentionables. Set it (by looking at the FM) in /etc/system and have your network weenie slam the switch port to the same configuration, BEFORE you go into production.
