I asked:

Results:

Drop sun-shipped sendmail like it is a live snake. Although in my question
all I suggested as an alternative was to get the newer sendmail, seven people
still responded with throwing out sendmail entirely and going with something
else. I hadn't even thought of that; now I will look at them. The poll
results are:

use newest sendmail from sendmail.org 7
switch to postfix 3
switch to qmail 3
switch to anything other than sendmail (qmail or postfix) 1
use the sun-shipped sendmail 1
