Summary: ADIC SCALAR 100 detection problems

Hello everybody,

I was able to get the ADIC Scalar up and running running thanks to Ed@(
solaris@ns1.silvex.com ).

I have attached his mail below.

I had to install the glm2 driver for the scsi card, in my case it was a SCSI
U3 dual channel LVD from antares microsystem. I found the driver from their
website, the driver was a sunpackage so all u had to do was install it using
pkgadd. I had already made the necessary addition to my /kernel/drv/st.cong,
so i had no trouble detecting it after the scsi card got its driver.
the lines i added to the st.conf were

#################################################################
tape-config-list=
  "IBM     ULTRIUM-TD1",  "IBM Ultrium",  "CLASS_3580",
  "IBM     ULT3580-TD1",  "IBM 3580 Ultrium", "CLASS_3580";

  CLASS_3580      =       1,0x24,0,0x45863d,2,0x00,0x01,0;

#################################################################

sincerely
Anil

Anil,

We went with a similar ordeal -- except we had the Juke box. Please check
the following:

1) Load the drivers for the SymBios card -- I think a glm2 type.
2) Make sure the card and driver are both set to LVD.
3) Make sure you have a LVD terminator. If not sure go buy one, since
   they all look the same...;)
4) halt system then do a:
        - probe-scsi-all ( if LTO does now show, check cables!)
        - boot -rv ( to reconfigre /dev, /devices and verbose!)

5) Get the latest st driver for sun (patch 105847-11). It has native support

   for LTO drives -- This is only for contract customers :(.

6) After installing patch above, add the LTO entry to /kernel/drv/st.conf,
   this is IF you only have ONE drive connected!

tape-config-list=
	"IBM     ULT3580-TD1",	"IBM 3580 Ultrium",	"CLASS_3580";
CLASS_3580	=	1,0x36,0,0x45863d,2,0x00,0x01,0;

Good luck!
