SUMMARY: Installing a Phobos QFE adapter

The problem was due to corrupt drivers in the drivers package.  I installed
new drivers from the phobos website and the drivers successfully attached.

Thanks to Chris Steinke for his suggestion (see below).  

Though I never installed a Phobos QFE adapater, I had a similiar problem
with another driver. 

Make sure you install the 64-bit driver. You can check to see if it
installed in /kernel/drv/sparcv9. If you are running Solaris 2.8 in
64-bit mode. Run  'isainfo -v' to see if you are running 64-bit
applications as well.
