Sorry that this summary is late. I posted the question in December and the
drive was only installed last week. Hey.. I work at a government lab..

One reply pointed me to:

http://sunblade100.wells.org.uk/cache/10.html

which indicated a 100gig drive would be no problem.

I installed a 100Gig Maxtor drive
<Maxtor 4W100H6 cyl 47966 alt 2 hd 16 sec 255>
on a Blade 100 running Solaris 8 4/01 and had no problems at all. As a
logging file system it ends up being about 92Gig.

Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/dsk/c0t2d0s6     96345075     65553  96279522   1% /scratch

Sun actually sells a Blade 100 with two 7200 RPM drives, so adding this
5400 RPM drive should add less heat.

Thanks and sorry for the late reply.
