Thanks to those who responded (unfortunately Outlook has thrown a
wobbler and I have lost their names). Problem was caused through xfree86
not having the correct fonts available. When pointed at a font server
running on one of the sparcs everything worked OK.

Subject: xfree86 on windows 2k connecting to Solaris on sparc

Currently have cygwin/xfree86 running on windows 2000, this is able to
connect to a Solaris 8 x86 box fine without any problems (get dtlogin
prompt and everything works).

When trying to connect to any of our 3 sparc boxes (2 x e250 + 1 x ultra
1 enterprise) nothing happens. cygwin/xfree86 just displays a black
screen with the outline of the Solaris hour glass on it.

"ps -ef | grep dt", of the sparcs shows the a "dtgreet -display
networkadmin:0" when trying top connect form host networkadmin. However
that process disappears after about 60 seconds.

Does anyone have any idea why this may be happening and how it can be
resolved?
