Ahhh. Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to find. Richie Crews was the first to respond with the answer: If he has a local email account you can look in /var/mail/username file for his mail. Now this will be plain text. However if his mail is not stored locally there is no way. There was indeed a local email account, and I found the problem. Thanks to all who responded so quickly.
