I received several answers, all stating that it isn't supported, but here is the work around. I followed these few steps and I was able to change the zone names. It's not supported, although there's RFE's in for it. You can do it manually by editing the files in /etc/zones -- change the zonename in the .xml file, and the zone name in /etc/zones/index. (I haven't tried doing it on a running zone, but it works for me if the zone is halted first.)
