Starting SAMBA after AUTOFS stops a race condition which prevents rpc
programs from starting.

I discovered that the problem disappeared after SAMBA was switched off.
A posting on the WEB suggested that if SAMBA started first it could
cause RPC problems. Can anyone confirm this?

NIS+ Master Server running Solaris 7

Solaris 7 Data Server

SUSE Enterprise 9 Data Server

Redhat Workstation client

I have built a test machine using SUSE Enterprise Server 9 which I have
joined to my NIS+ domain. I have put some user home directories on it
under /export/home/t1/student/<id>. I have exported this successfully
and can get access to them when I logon to my Redhat Workstation PC as a
particular user. However if I do "ls /home/<id>" whilst on my SUSE
machine I get told "/bin/ls: /home/<id>: No such file or directory". I
can do "ls /home/<another id>" of a user with a home directory found on
my Solaris server and it works ok. Clearly there is a problem with my
SUSE machine and /export/home/t1 but I am at a loss as to what it is,
can anyone point me in the right direction here please? I have copied my
/etc/fstab , /etc/exports and log files entries below.
