summary: veritas netbackup problem

Hi all,

General consensus is that after the tapes in the L9 are changed,
vmupdate needs to be executed manually to update Netbackup's library
contents. Veritas has no automatic facility to do this.

Original question below:
Hi all,

We have a V880 with Solaris 8 and Veritas Netbackup 3.4 installed. The
autoloader is an L9.

Currently we have to run "/opt/openv/volmgr/bin/vmupdate -rn 0 -rt tld"
as root from cron just before the backups are executed. If this is not
done, the backups will fail and Netbackup reports the following error:
backup of client sunbox exited with status 96
(unable to allocate new media for backup, storage unit has none
available)

Is this a known issue or is there step in the configuration I have
missed?

Will summarise.

Thanks in advance.
