SUMMARY: maximum async i/o

Problem:
Our Sybase 12 server is saying that we need to increase the maximum
number of
simultaneous async i/o requests on the operating system (Solaris 2.6).
Does
anyone have information on this issue.

Solution:
Sybase, like Oracle, tells the user to increase the Operating System setting
for maximum asynchronous i/o requests. This is inaccurate because there is no
such tunable in Solaris. The solution was to increase the following
parameters:
shmsys:shminfo_shmseg
shmsys:shminfo_shmmni
