Problem:
Looking for user management across numberous solaris machines, and
preferably account syncronisation against an NTdomain.

Summary:
* NIS+ seems hated universally by respondents.

* Microsoft tools for unix. Although i know this product can sync.
accounts on one machine, no one has managed to confirm it can manage
accounts on multiple machines.

* Winbind, added recently to the samba suite.

LDAP in various guises was recommended, including:-

* iPlanet (Netscape) Directory Server, Integration Edition (most
recommended)

* Novell eDirectory

* OpenLDAP

* Critical Path Metadirectory

Sun online class in LDAP was recommended, but no books. So I've
invested in 'Sun Blueprints' on 'Solaris and LDAP naming services'.
This is very heavily focussed on the Netscape approach.

Thanks to the many who replied.
