SUMMARY: Error running ksh - bad file unit number

I discovered that this particular machine had unrealistically low settings for
the rlim_fd_* kernal parameters (ie. rlim_fd_cur=40 and rlim_fd_max=40).
Commenting these out of /etc/system (so the defaults are used) fixed the


I have inherited an E450r running Solaris 8. When I try to run a Korn shell, I
get the following error:

# /usr/bin/ksh
/usr/bin/ksh: bad file unit number
Segmentation Fault (core dumped)

I first discovered this problem when trying to run 'patchadd'.
