SUMMARY: Solaris8, HP DDS3, no hardware compression

Original problem below..

This one was a real pain to track down. Turns out that a firmware upgrade
(done on a windows box) was what was needed. We were running at U608 and
U710 for firware revisions on the loaders with U812 being the most recent.
Upgraded the firmware and the drives are now happily compressing.. On a
side note, Solaris 8 does not require an st.conf file to explain the HP
DDS3 drives. Found this out by trial and error.

Nobody responded to my initial query. Of course I only got one "vacation"
message, which seems really low from past experience, so maybe there was a
problem with my post getting to the entire list.
