SUMMARY: regaining control over console

Well, it turned out to be an ID10T error... (pronounced eye D ten T -
meaning 'idiot'!)

This system is a specially designed unit from a Sun VAR. It's an Ultra10
equivalent that's rackmountable with an AXi motherboard. The problem
turned out to be an oversight on my part. I am used to plugging in my VT
terminal with null modem cable (male/CPU to female/terminal) to SPARC
5/10/20's. On this system, the serial port is female not male. The
parallel port is male. So I was plugging in the null modem cable into the
parallel port!!! UGH!

Odd thing is that with the Sun Type 6 keyboard plugged in, it didn't
default to it.

Sorry to waste everyone's time. And thank you very much for the people
who responded - you assumed too much - i.e. that I was not overlooking
something as critical as the right port. :)

I've looked through the FAQ and the archives but couldn't find anything
related... drives me nuts because I could have sworn I saw something
similar to my problem before. Guess it all comes down to how to search
for the data you want!

Anyway, I've got an Ultra10 AXi system with a PGX32 graphics card but the
I/O is currently set to the ttya port. My terminal is either bad or the
port isn't working so now I have no control over the system. The system
isn't booted and doesn't autoboot on power on. How can I regain control
over the console to the graphics adapter and Sun keyboard???

Thanks in advance!
