Thanks for all the replies. It is too many to list individually.
The anwser is using "tip -9600 /dev/ttya" to connect to level meter,
then give the level meter's command to read data. Another software is
kermit. I tried both, works. But I chose kermit because I can write a
script to read data and showed on my web server without interactively
typing.

The meter has a RS232 port, protocols are very standard. I connected
RS232 port to Ultra2 ttya. How can I open a termial for ttya to read the
