Thank you all very much. I got lots of replies and the following are the suggestions that most people suggested:
1. Install "Services for Unix", a package provided by Microsoft on the NT server and using that you can trigger the NT service.
2. Install "rshd" from the website http://www.denicomp.com/rshdnt.htm on the NT server and use that to run the NT service from Unix.
3. Other suggestions were to use products like Tivoli Maestro, Platinum(CA) Autosys etc.
4. Use the inetd provided by Exceed and enable the rshd and rexecd on the NT server.

The best solution looks like to use rsh and that seems to solve the problem.

                                    Thanks, Chakru
