SUMMARY: Sending a file as an attachment from command line

The following works. I didnot have to download any other tool.

uuencode <filename> <filename> | mailx -s "my subject" <user>

My question was:
Hello all: on Unix when I do a mail rmalghan@gmu.edu < filename,
it sends the file as the body of the message, is it possible to send it as
an attachment and how?
