Hello managers,
i've asked:
>i'm sitting behind/in front of a ncd-Xterminal
>with a cherry-US-keyboard (G83?; 101 keys)
>
>My question:
>How do i enter those composed characters (let's say within vi)
>without the SUN or DEC-compose key?
>On my Linux-box this works with the right Control-Key.
>
>What is the easiest way from Xterminal in a window from/on a sun (ultra60)
>under solaris 7? Do i have to experiment with key-bindings?
and Danny Johnson <djohnson@nbserv1.rsc.raytheon.com>
was kind enough to send me 2 scripts and an explanation,
that i could figure out what i was looking for:
xmodmap -e "keycode 57 = SunCompose"
the above command changes my key 57 (the original Alt_R) to SunCompose.
With this i can enter now
<key-Alt_R> then "/" and then "o" to get "ø"
which was exactly what i was looking for.
Instead of "SunCompose" i could have changed my Alt_R (or any other key)
to "be" "Meta_R". Then most of the keys of my keyboard have a third(?)
character to be send.
Example: the little "i" gives "i" when pressed alone
or "I" when pressed with shift
or "é" when pressed now with "Meta_R"
Also this is working only with a sun-cde-session on my ncd-xterminal.
It is not working with a xsession via xdm from aix/ibm.
With regards,
Bernt Christandl
