Summary: Installation Problems - Solaris 7 for the Intel (x86)

My networking problem with Solaris 7 / Intel is FIXED. I can
honestly say that SUN Documentation did it to me. The 3C900B-COMBO
network card was originally set to Media Type COAX which was
what I wanted ( 10Base2 ). I dutifully checked the Solaris 7
(Intel Platform Edition) Hardware Compatibility List which
showed that the 3C900B-COMBO card was supported. The # behind
the entry directed me to the Solaris 7 (Intel Platform Edition)
Device Configuration Guide which indicated that the Media Type
should be set to Auto Select. I went into the cards setup
program and changed the Media Type to Auto Select. After I
installed Solaris 7 / Intel I was unable to get out on the
network. One of the people in the alt.solaris.x86 news group
suggested I change the Media Type of the card to COAX. I
changed it BACK to COAX. Everything is now working correctly.
A big thanks to Bruce Adler and all of the other excellent
suggestions from the alt.solaris.x86 news group and the
Solaris Administrators List.
