Thanx to all who replied
Samir Sethi

Mike DeMarco [mikejd@bnpcn.com]

It looks like the person who created the box didnt created any swap area
inituially on any device or on a raw device.

As per Mike "Very BAD"
> swap -l
>swapfile dev swaplo blocks free
>/usr/local/swap - 16 524272 496640
>nsrunner@machine1 [32l4]>

This is showing only a swap >FILE< as being configured!! No
raw swap partition (((((("Very BAD!!!!!" ))))))))"

Here are the other informations provided.

On swap :

"swap -l" show the swap space on disk.
"swap -s" show the combination of non-reserved physical
memory and swap space on disk.
/tmp is mounted from the swap partition , which is the swap on disk.
It's dynamic and will shrink as your system uses more swap.

As per mike to fix it, (looking into the "df" output below).

Shows tmp is configured on swap which is configured on /usr as a swapfile
/usr/local/swap. What a mess!!! The easiest way to fix this is to add
another
disk to this system and configure a partition as swap.
You should try to find a little room on the system disk for a swap partiton
though.

Thanx again.
