Consensus seems to be that solaris 2.6 will not support
IDE disks larger than about 8G.

Casper Dik says Solaris 2.7 has no problems with large drives on the
SPARC Ultra platforms.

Ana Yuseepi says it can be done with Solaris 2.7 but is kinda
complicated on Intel Platforms. This URL may help:
