Hi,

The was my original post:

My fault. I forgot the drill (my excuse, worked with SGIs too long! :):

ok setenv auto-boot? false
ok reset
ok probe-scsi-all
ok setenv auto-boot? true
ok reset

Misha Pavlov <misha@us.cibc.com>:
|If you'll look closer, you'll notice that the error comes from
|ide controller, not from isp.
|
|This looks like when you install 2.6 or 2.5.1 on new U10 with a
|CPU speed > 410Mhz If this is the case - you should use Operating
|Environment CD to install the OS It comes with U10. - just boot from
|that cd. It will repartition the drive, ask usual suninstall |questions and
will ask for 2.6 (or 2.5.1) CD.

This was indeed part of the problem.

|Sounds like you have more than one device on the same SCSI ID....

The problem turned out to be a bad cable as well as incorrect connection of
the two SCSI channels.

|Damon LaCaille <Damon_LaCaille@digi.com>
|I don't think this is it, but make sure nothing else is on that SCSI
|bus when you try it. I had a DLT-4000 and an external multi-pack |hooked
up to an Ultra-5, the multi-pack took 6 SCSI id's (one for |each disk), plus
one for the multipack itself, when I turned on the |DLT-4000 I got similar
errors. Probably not it, and you've probably |checked it.

No, this wasn't my problem.

|I have an interest in seeing your response however since I am |attaching an
L-1800 to an Ultra-5 today via Dual-channel UltraSCSI
|(PCI) adapter as well and would like to hear your final results!
|Thanks and good luck!

I'm sorry for not posting sooner. Too many things going on...

|
|are you sure you have a differential terminater or just a |wide-terminater.
|
|if you remove the cable from the adapter and probe are the results |the
same? does ok show-devs show the board ---------

This time, termination was not the problem.

My thanks to all those who responded!

Regards,
Rasana
