Thanks for ALL who REPLED

1. Majority replied with an answer which I already knew:-

solution: try echo $SHELL or ps

problem: within session if you change shell few times, above two commands does
not help

Two Unique Answer which REALLY pinpointed to what i was looking for was from:

Dennis Martens" <MARTENSD@health.qld.gov.au> &
vogelke@c17mis.region2.wpafb.af.mil

ps -ef | grep $$ <----this shows the shell you are in right now
ps <----- look for highest PID, that is the shell you are in.

thanks to all specially karl and dennis
