Hello managers,
my original question is appended below. To sum it up,
i wasn't able to install a HP LJ4050N to work for me.
With the help of
Wade Stuart <wstuart@osagemn.com> and especially
John White <johnjohn@triceratops.com>
i came to the conclusion to use the JetAdmin Software and try to
install the 4050N "by hand" and from that i learned this:
There is a number standing for the modeltype or series of HP-printers.
The JetAdmin-SW gives you a list of these numbers (if you enter "?"
at that point of installation) and with this information i was able
to learn that "/opt/hpnp/bin/addqueue -l" gives the exactly
same information, but the number is different...
And then with
/opt/hpnp/bin/addqueue -q <printerqueue> -h <printerhost> -i <id>
"<id>" being that number which stands for HP4000N Series Printers
the installation of a 4050N went smooth and without problems...

My original question:
>We have many HP-printers up and running including HP4000 and HP5000.
>Recently a new model came in: HP4050 and it refuses to install
>with an error about missing drivers. Now i can't find any software
>for solaris for this type of printer, neither on the CD which comes witthe
>printer nor on the HP WebSite :(
>
>So here comes my question:
>Did anybody out there successfully set up a HP4050 printer under Solaris?
>(We only use Solaris 2.5.1 or 2.6 this year :)
>
>Then i would be very much interested in how you did it!
