Original Question: Is Solaris rock-solid on 4+ CPU machines?

My own experience was YES for a 2 CPU E3000 running 2.5.1 and 2.7.

23 responses to my question all suggest that Solaris is rock solid
from version 2.5.1 onwards, independent of the number of CPUs.
Downtime is limited to maintenance work and the occasional hardware
failure.

There was one suggestion that things may have been different for
Solaris 2.3 and 2.4, another that it may be different on Intel
machines.

A representative quote from one of the responses (David Anthony):

"I would say that Solaris 2.5.1 is where Solaris came of age
with respect to reliability and scalability."

Thank You all respondents.
