Turns out my problem really *was* with permissions. Go fig. :-)
/export/home/blalor was not group writable, but /export was. 'chmod g-w
/export' fixed things right up.
This problem cropped up because the version of sendmail that ships with
Solaris 7 has a bunch of added security features (under the guise of
DontBlameSendmail) that (in my case) caused it to barf unnecessarily.
This stuff can be turned off in the sendmail configs, but since there was
no need for me to have /export group writable, it was just easier (and
more administratively sound) to fix the permissions.
