PRE/INFO-SUMMARY: What should I remove from /etc/services to secure my machine?

Right, right, right, alright ;-)

Here is the current list that I am considering:-

rwhod
smtp
finger
uucp
rex
shell
login
exec
systat
netstat
talk
all from /etc/init.d.

I am also looking at the contents of /etc/rpc.

I am along way from producing a list that I am going to turn off because I
need to build a test lab FIRST to play (no, no, no) test in!!!!

Ooooopppsss. Sent the summary a bit too early!!!

I'm still a bit new to this.

I will submit a more detailed summary once I have tested which ones I am
going to remove.

Sorry

Thanks for all the quick and knowledgeable responses (including some very
useful ones from my own SA group).

I now have a list of services which I am evaluating to a view of removing
them.
