SUMMARY: Netscape vs. Hotjava (path problem)

Thanks to the following people for their suggestions:

Roger Fujii <rmf@unixbox.lookhere.com>
Bill Hathaway <wdh@poss.com>
Brooke King (6532)" <jbking@sandia.gov>
Anthony Worrall <Anthony.Worrall@reading.ac.uk>
Eduardo Ferraz dos Santos <FERRAZ@senado.gov.br>
Aaron Lineberger aaron@cs.odu.edu
Sean Quaint <squaint@cac.net>
Gerhard den Hollander <gerhard@james.jason.nl>

I tried the suggestion of adding "/usr/local/netscape" to the path in
/usr/dt/bin/sdtwebclient. Though a "workaround" it did the trick.
(Note that putting it in /etc/dt/bin/sdtwebclient did not work).

Although it works fine, it also shows an error when running ps -ef:
sh -c sdtwebclient || {dterror.ds "Web Browser Unavailable. No web browser

I can live with the error message. It does not seem to affect Netscape.
Thanks again.

Subject: Netscape vs. Hotjava (path problem)

We are running Solaris 2.6 on Sparc 20s and Ultras.

When logging on via CDE login screen, HotJava is the default Web Browser
via the Front Panel. How do I make Netscape the default via clicking
on the Front Panel? Typing "netscape" on the command line runs fine
but I need it to run via the Front Panel. I need a system-wide fix for
all users.

1. I tried changing the user-prefs.dt "MAP_ACTION SDtNetscape".
But it won't work because CDE can't find the netscape path.

This is because when logging in via the CDE login screen, the CDE
paths are sourced BEFORE to the user's personal paths. It only
works if you log in from the command line (your personal paths
are sourced first) and then run CDE afterwords from the command line.
(FYI, my local .dtprofile has "DTSOURCEPROFILE=true").

2. So I added the line "DTAPPSEARCHPATH=/usr/local/netscape" to
/etc/dt/config/Xsession.d/0010.dtpaths and it still didn't work.

Sun-tech said it can't be done. As I mentioned, I need a system-wide
fix. Have any of you had this same problem?
