SUMMARY: [machine going to PROM when serial line disconnected]

There doesn't seem to be any definitive answers about how to handle this.
Some people report success with modifying the serial cables
(http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/770/fn-tsbreak.html) and some say that has
nothing to do with this. Others say to disable BREAK handling, but at least
one person said that wouldn't work. In the end, I decided not to change the
cables for now and set KEYBOARD_ABORT to disable in /etc/default/kbd.
Everyone did agree that the PROM settings don't have anything to do with this
and that I was just lucky when that setup was appearing to work. So I will be
changing cables very carefully from now on.
