The version number 2.3.4.0.0 just happens to be to version of Oracle's TNS
bundled with Oracle7 7.3.4. To see what is installed, do as the oracle user
(oracle software owner account)
(1) adapters
output shows adapters installed, you want to see V2 TCP/IP
(2) from sqlplus
select * from v$version ;
check the TNS version number in the output
