Thanks to the two quick replies. Summary: No, you will have to upgrade.

The machine controls medical research scanner, so I will to check with the
medical vendor (CTI) to see that I am not doing "harm" to their s/w by the
upgrade.

        You have to upgrade to 4.1.3_U1 or better yet 4.1.4.
