Many hardrives have write-protect jumpers, including the Seagate ST32151. One
thing to be wary about is to make sure you keep the leads between the
switch and the disk short just in case there is a problem with electrical
noise.
Z Microsystems' Tranzpak product line might fill your needs. We have used
them in the past to hold Sun-supplied disks we needed to be removable and
write-protectable and were successful.

My platform is an Ultra-1 running Solaris 2.6. I'm looking for
recommendations on removable or write-protected disks. The intended
application is to store tripwire databases and software. A CD writer would
also work, but I'd rather have a disk with a physical write protect switch.
Ideally the switch would be accessible without having to open the case.
