I neglected to mention the type of video board we have, mainly because I
didn't know what it is, but all the information I got was valuable
anyway.

A few people mentioned the ffbconfig command to configure Creator cards,
which it turns out we don't have, but I'll file that away for future
reference.

Some suggested using the eeprom command to change the settings in the
EEPROM. For one example,
eeprom output-device=screen:r1280x1024x60

Several people pointed me to a Sun frame buffer FAQ which seems to
contain all the information on Sun frame buffers than anyone would want
to know. Various mirrors of the page are at

http://c3-a.snvl1.sfba.home.com/FrameBuffer.html
http://tarl.net/FAQ/FrameBuffer.html
http://www.uark.edu/sunfaq/FrameBuffer.html
http://bul.eecs.umich.edu/~crowej/FrameBuffer.html

Finally, some mentioned various alternative video boards and flat-panel
monitors that should work, including Quantum3D MGX boards and IBM 9516
display. We probably will not try the $20,000+ Barco display.
