SUMMARY: using netgroups to control logins in 2.6?

Ok,
  Thanks for the quick replies. Sorry I didn't record the names of those
who did reply. Too quick on the delete.

I needed to add:

+@eb-nfs1-users
+:x:::::/bin/false

to my /etc/passwd. The first allowed the users of my netgroup and the
second line allowed me to keep the names/logins matched to UID's on
files without allowing them to login. After this I needed to run
"pwconv" to 'sync' the passwd and shadow.

Once these were in place I just changed:

passwd: files nis
to
passwd: files compat

in /etc/nsswitch.conf and it's working nicely.
