Hi,

First of all, thanks from all of your prompt responses.

My Sun has Solaris 2.5.1 and the conclusion follows:

1. Solaris 2.5.1 and lower has a limit of 2GB file size on O.S.
2. This limit is implied on almost Unix O.S., excepted SGI xfs and Solaris
2.6 (not beta), as far as I know. Lunix, AIX, BSD, SunOs, which uses ufs
and s5fs has this limit.

Solution for not upgrade O.S.:

Run a GNU Tar version that runs gzip to compress the tar file before write
on HD. (OK)

Once more, thanks to everybody
