Hi,
Thanks to all the people who replied. I am including their replies at the end
of this message. Sorry if I missed any one. I did check the password and
the shadow files, I did not find any thing suspicious. I still have to check
the patches.
Thanks,
Marcelle Nachef

NOt sure why that did not work but I can tell you
do be aware of changing root passwd in a NIS+
environment. Follow the proper procedure or
your client will not be authenticated properly.

Hi,
are you using passwd or yppasswd ? It can be confusing, if you have an alias for
yppasswd like "alias passwd yppasswd"...
Try 'truss passwd' to trace all system calls, maybe you can get an idea of what
is going wrong with this information.

You might want to check your passwd and shadow files. Look especially for a
an blank line embedded in the file or at the end of the file. Just my .02
worth.

Do you have all of the recommended patches installed? I recall a few for
NIS+ under 2.5
