SUMMARY: ufsfump command for Exabyte 8505 (fwd)

It turned out that another device on the scsi bus was causing conflicts
(different scsi id, but bad drive). After I removed that device from the
chain, it worked like a champ. I was able to get several dumps done using
the /dev/rmt/0cn device.

Also, it is true that the 8505 works fine without a modified st.conf

Thank you for all who responded. My original message follows.

Subject: ufsfump command for Exabyte 8505

Hello,

I have an Exabyte 8505 drive that I've been using fine with SunOS 4.1.x.
When I upgraded to Solaris 2.6, I did not change my st.conf because
Exabyte said Solaris had built in support for the 8505. However, I've been
getting "tape error 1 foot into tape" errors from day 1 after the upgrade.
Can anyone assist me with either a st.conf entry (exabyte's web page has
no 8505 Solaris 2.x entry) or a dump command? I'm looking to squeeze 5
gigs onto a 112 meter tape without relying on compression.

Thanks!

-Jason
