SUMMARY: serial config for STU-III

Not much to summarize....but here it is.

For definition's sake: An RCA STU-III is a Secure Telephone Unit.

The serial port jumpers do need to be changed on the Ultra if you're
using RS232 (default is RS423). Select Pins 1 and 2 on J2104 and
J2105. If you need a documentation on it, the Sun Ultra 2 Series
Reference Manual, Main Logic Board Jumpers, Section 4.3 Serial
     Jumpers, is what I used.

A straight cable RS232 from the CPU to the STU-III is needed. A null
cable to test the transmit from another CPU (we tested the
     transmission from a PC)

Thanks to Jason Frye and Tim for their replies. They kept me on the
right track. My original question follows the summary.

     Thanks,

Does anyone have some information on how to configure an Ultra II,
Solaris 2.5.1, serial port for an RCA STU-III?

I know that the serial port jumpers need to be done, depending on the
signal levels, and I have some documentation on doing that .... but
wondering what else I might need to know before I get started.

Could even use some information on what kind of cable is needed.

     Thanks,
