Folks,

Here is the original message:
We just received a new ultra5. I downloaded the latest recommended patches for
2.5.1. When I try to install the patches using the install_cluster in the patch root
directory, I get the following error:

pkgadd: checkinstall did not complete successfully

How do I find the problem(s) or where do I need to look to see what is wrong?

I have had responses from:
Kevin Maher kmaher@sunspot.tasc.dot.gov
Chuck Milam milam@uwosh.edu
David Foster foster@bial1.ucsd.edu
Nevin Steindam steindnm@acs.wooster.edu
David Wiseman magi@csd.uwo.ca

The problem is that installpatch installs as nobody and the permissions on the path
where the patches were un-tar-ed did not give nobody access to the files. After
running a find to change perms to 777, it ran fine.

Also,
Robin Landis robin.landis@exim.gov

said that installpatch had to be run from /tmp. It does not have to be. It can be run
from the patch dir structure.

Thanks for all the help!
