My original question is as follows:

We are having problems using pageview from X-terminals but works fine otherwise.

Our X-terminals login to our server running Solaris 2.5.1 and CDE. If we run
pageview from any shell, we get the error message:

pageview: No PostScript interpreter (NeWS/DPS) found

But if we first login to any workstation then rsh onto the server and make sure
we do a xhost, then pageview works fine. This is a mystery since we are using
the same user account and logging into the same server. Both cases should
therefore have the same environment variables and settings. Doesn't seem to be
acolormap problem. What's the difference between logging into the server via a
X-terminal and via rsh from a workstation?

I checked SunSolve and see another bug report that is similar to my problem but
no patches. Any ideas? Thanks.

The answer:

It seems the postscript interpreting is done on the server side. When I run
pageview, the postscript interpretation chore rests on the side of the graphical
display via DPS (Display PostScript). The Sun workstations are capable of DPS
whereas my X-terminals are not. Hence the error.

Thanks again for all the replies. I learn something new everyday. :)
