summary: sticky bit

My thanks to everyone who responded (too many to
list). As everyone pointed out, the sticky bit (e.g.
on /tmp) means that only root or the owner of the
file on /tmp can remove it, even though everybody has
write access on the directory. Thus, everybody can
create files, but only root or the owner can remove
them, avoiding that someone erases someone's elses
files.

Thanks again.
