Hi,

My original question was that the DLT drive takes too long (2 hours) to
position itself using SOlstice Backup.

I received a few replies and the correct answer were from :

John Stoffel <jfs@fluent.com> and peter.bestel@uniq.com.au

It was a missing missing entry for DLT in /kernel/drv/st.conf.
The st.conf entry from SunSolve is as follows :

tape-config-list=
"SUN DLT4000", "Quantum DLT 4000", "QDLT";
#
QDLT =1,0x36,0,0xD639,4,0x80,0x81,0x82,0x83,2;

Thanks also to the following for their suggestions:

Sai Ganesamoorthi <sai@paranet.com>
Chuck Kenyon <chuck@npiww.com>
Bryan Hodgson <bryanh@astea.com>
Martin Huber <hu@garfield.m.isar.de>
