SUMMARY: Lost LP Jobs

Hi

The answer was to change the ownership of /var/spool/lp/tmp/.net and below to
'lp' not 'root'. I have no idea why it was root owned in the first place.

I also installed patch 103959-04 - lp patch

fixes,

4022904 can't open spool file "/var/spool/lp/tmp/.net/machine/number-1 with
protocol lpd

After this the machine began printing multiple copies, this was sorted by
changing the printer model interface file from the standard one to on
specifically for the Tektronics printer.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Stephen.

FYI I am getting

<printername> NAKed by remote lpd (0)
  <printername> can't open spool file:
/var/spool/lp/tmp/.net/tmp/<host>/<job-id>

in the log file on the print server

Regards,

Stephen.

Original Message:

I have a 2.5.1 print client and server machine. The client is an SS20 and the
server is a Ultra-1. With a particular printer, a textronics phaser III colour
thermal, the print jobs appear in the client queue and then get sent somewhere
but never arrive at the server. /etc/lp/Systems is ok and you can print to the
printer form the server.

Any thoughts, basically it appears fine but nothing happens.

TIA
