This is not my weekend!

As indicated in my previous message, I am trying to restore the root file
system of a SS4 (Solaris 2.5) following a procedure outlined in the text
from the SA-285 course. I'm using a portable CD-ROM to try and boot from
the CD single user. However, there is a problem with the CD-ROM drive.
When I do a probe-scsi-all I get the following message: Missing scsi
message. Fatal error. Any ideas what would produce this message?

Also, I do not have a jumpstart server configured, so that is not an option
at this moment.

Summary:

Many people have suggested things like check the SCSI ID, cables, pins,
proper termination, etc. Most of this I did (several times) to no avail.
Fortunately, I was able to setup an install server and boot the machine
single user over the network.

If I have the time today (not likely) I will return to the CD-ROM drive and
try to determine what the problem is.

Many thanks to all who replied!!!
