Thanks to all who answered about automounting from a Linux server on a
solaris 2.5 client.
The final answer turned out to be adding the following in the
/etc/exports file to the exported directory
(rw,root_squash,no_all_squash).
Once this was done, I could run apps and create/write directories/files
and have me as the owner.
