Would anyone be able to shed some light on the reason for the
following error?

yp_all: transport level create failure: rpc: RPCbind failure - RPC: timed out.

The workstation generating this error is a SS5 running Solaris 2.4.
Patches loaded are:

101945-41/ 102007-01/ 102070-01/ 102820-01/
101973-16/ 102044-01/ 102216-01/ 102854-01/
101945-14/ 101981-02/ 102066-04/ 102704-02/ 102956-01/

This workstation is our mail server as well. It also has been recently
configured as a PPP dial-in server. Which I believe could be causing the
error, but I can't be 100% sure. ANY information would be greatly
appreciated.

Of the three responses I received, Dieter Gobbers was able to provide me with
the answer which solved the problem. He informs me that the error is generated
from a corrupted set of NIS maps on a replica server. To initially test this
theory I issued several "ypcat" commands from the offending workstation. Sure
enough, each "ypcat" command hung shortly and then prompted the "yp_all" error. After learning which NIS replica server was providing the corrupt NIS maps
(ypwhich), I selected an alternate replica server for the workstation to bind
to (ypset). Once this was done, I was able to manipulate NIS maps from the
workstation without generating the "yp_all" error. Ideally, I will need to
replace the entire set of corrupted maps on the replica server, but this will
do in the meantime. Needless to say, PPP had absolutely nothing to do with the
problem.
