My original question:
>Hello Sun Gurus,
>I recently upgraded some of the disks in a SPARCStorage Array from
>1GB disks to 2GB disks.
>Now I have some of these 1GB disks that I would like to re-use in (for
>example) a Sparc20, however the Array disks have a special connector.
>The array disks have a single connection rather than having a seperate
>power connector that I am familiar with in the workstations.
>Has anybody successfully re-used these array disks in other configurations?
The answer is that the Sparc4, Sparc5 and Sparc20 all use the same type
of connector on their internal disks, the newer style single connector.
The disks I remove from
the SparcStorage Array will work OK in those workstations. All that I
need is the new clear plastic mounting kits for installing them. These
have not been easy to obtain so far.
Pardon my ignorance on this question, the only Sparc20's I had previously
opened before were purchased as upgrades from Sparc2's. With these I had to
transfer the old style (seperate power connector) internal disk into the
new Sparc20. I did not even notice the new style connectors that were also in
the Sparc20 at the time.
Many thanks to those who responded:
